Public-private partnership will result in additional water resources for Miami-Dade Water and Sewer

Access to safe, reliable drinking water is a vital component of current and future planning and development for both the private and public sectors. Following a 15-year collaboration between local governments, public water utilities including the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD), private entities, regional agencies, and the State of Florida, the first phase of the C-51 Reservoir recently broke ground – a project that will provide an alternate water supply source for eight public water utilities in South Florida.

FEDERAL FLOOD POLICYHOLDERS IN UNINCORPORATED MONROE COUNTY WILL SEE ADDITIONAL DISCOUNTS IN 2022, DRAFT REPORT SHOWS COUNTY AS CRS CLASS

UNINCORPORATED MONROE COUNTY, FL – Due to Monroe County’s efforts over the past five years in the voluntary Community Rating System (CRS), most of the nearly 14,400 National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) policyholders in unincorporated Monroe County are expected to receive new automatic CRS premium discounts of 35 percent beginning April 1, 2022. This is an increase from the current 25 percent discount. Originally thought to be classified as a Class 4, the County will be designated as a Class 3. The CRS rewards communities that take actions exceeding the minimum NFIP requirements to protect people and property from flooding.
