S.R. A1A RESILIENCY PROJECT Construction Update

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is set to start construction on the first of two buried seawalls along State Road (S.R.) A1A. The first wall will extend from one-half mile north of Highbridge Road in Volusia County to South Central Avenue in Flagler County. Work is expected to begin in February 2024 at the north end of the seawall in Flagler County.

COUNTY PARTNERS FOR NEW SITES FOR AFFORDABLE HOMEOWNERSHIP DEVELOPMENT WITH UPPER KEYS HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

KEY LARGO AND TAVERNIER, FL – Monroe County Land Authority Governing Board approved purchasing new sites to redevelop affordable homeownership units in Tavernier and Key Largo today. The County will own and lease the sites to Habitat for Humanity of the Upper Keys to redevelop those sites consistent with neighborhood character. “This assures long-term affordability in perpetuity,” said Monroe County Land Authority Chairman and County Commissioner David Rice.

Updated: Florida 404 Permitting Changes

A Feb. 15 court ruling has left Florida’s wetlands permitting program without a future, and news Monday that the U.S. Department of Justice filed a supplemental brief in the case stating that allowing Florida to continue with some limited control over permitting is unworkable and illegal under the Clean Water Act provides no clear direction.
